Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee quality assurance, quality control processes, and adherence to regulations and quality standards for clinical testing sections.
• Conduct regular quality assurance meetings, internal audits of clinical sections, and train personnel on quality assurance processes.
• Set quality improvement expectations and work with section managers and division directors to achieve organizational goals.
• Collaborate with environmental quality consultant and laboratory leadership to standardize and optimize quality assurance processes of both environmental and clinical divisions.
• Lead inspection and accreditation efforts within the clinical testing sections.
• Contribute to the development of a comprehensive quality management system for the Nashville Central Laboratory.

• Responsible for quality management of the clinical testing sections of the laboratory.

Distinguishing Features:

• An employee in this class provides routine laboratory consultant work of considerable difficulty and of a larger scope.
• This class differs from the PH Laboratory Consultant 1 in that an incumbent of the latter performs work of routine difficulty and smaller scope and complexity.
• This class differs from a PH Laboratory Consultant 3 in that the latter acts as a consulting coordinator for several service units within a laboratory division or statewide.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in life sciences (e.g., biology, microbiology, or biochemistry), medial laboratory science, pre-medicine, or successful completion of an accredited medical laboratory science program.

Required Experience:

• Two years of full-time professional work in the laboratory field
• Tennessee Laboratory Supervisor License strongly preferred.
• Experience with CLIA, CAP, and/or ISO 17025 preferred.
