PHARMACIST - Community Hospital is searching for a full-time Pharmacist. The Pharmacist will typically work Monday through Thursday, an occasional weekend (approximately 3 per year) and 2 holidays per year. Community Hospital offers a competitive salary, great benefits and has student loan repayment opportunities. Relocation expenses negotiable.

Community Hospital is a 25-bed critical access, not-for-profit, DNV accredited facility located in McCook, Nebraska. As a regional hospital, Community Hospital is equipped to care for the more than 30,000 people who live throughout southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas. This critical access facility excels in surgery care, rehabilitation programs, obstetrics, emergency care, and offers a wide range of visiting specialists. Community Hospital is very progressive in the services it offers and houses a very busy outpatient injection/infusion department coupled with a radiation therapy department to serve the needs of oncology patients near and far. Community Hospital has proactively embraced the latest technologies, employs the most qualified medical professionals, and encourages their staff to pursue continuing education. As a result, those who work at Community Hospital find it professionally gratifying, and their patients benefit from quality medical care close to home.

Community Hospital boasts a highly engaged and valued pharmacy staff that, when operating at full status, consists of 4 FTE pharmacists and 3 FTE technicians. We currently have a position open for a pharmacist to join our team. This position is a unique opportunity in that it will be normal pharmacy operations, as well as an additional opportunity for antimicrobial stewardship responsibilities. As such, Community Hospital desires a pharmacist candidate that not only enjoys the day to day activities offered in a CAH, but also has a keen interest in infectious disease and would welcome the opportunity to be highly engaged in an antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP). These activities would include, but not necessarily be limited to, participating in daily huddles with infectious disease to evaluate appropriate treatment, and following up with providers on ASP related recommendations.

Each pharmacist is a highly trained member of the health care team who has an ethical responsibility to assure that medication therapy is effective and appropriate. All pharmacists will adhere to the code of ethics of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, follow applicable state and federal laws, and provide accurate pharmaceutical services to patients of the hospital. Pharmacists are integral to all activities involving drug distribution, admixture, patient medication profile, drug information, ordering and inventory. Pharmacists will participate in the designing of the structure, scope, function and goals set for the department.

Qualifications:

Current licensure as a pharmacist by the State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure required.
Graduate with a PharmD degree from an accredited school of pharmacy as required for Nebraska licensure.
Current BLS preferred and ACLS certification encouraged after hire.
Previous hospital experience preferred but not required.
