Job Description:
University of Maryland Medical Center, the flagship teaching hospital of University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist. Both inpatient and outpatient service opportunities are available, with opportunities to develop a focus in one of several specialties. The successful candidate for the position will receive academic appointment at University of Maryland School of Medicine commensurate with the school’s appointments and promotions processes.
Some highlights of this opportunity include:
- Work as a member of an established, respected team of psychiatric consultants in a 700+-bed medical center, providing consultation to medical, surgical and emergency department services, including the Level 1 Shock Trauma Center.
- Inpatient consultation is primarily a teaching service, with trainees at the Medical Student, Resident, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellow levels.
- Extensive opportunities for program development and research, with readily available mentoring.
- Base salary according to qualifications and University guidelines; up to 15% additional compensation available through overpractice.
- Weekend duties limited to 4x/year; no call requirements.
- Excellent leave, vacation, and retirement benefits, including malpractice coverage.
- Eligibility to apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at University of Maryland Medical Center comprises four inpatient services at our primary Downtown Campus and one at our nearby Midtown Campus. Two of the Downtown inpatient services are proactive Integrated Care Initiatives. We also provide dedicated outpatient consultation to Organ Transplantation, Oncology, Virology, and Endocrinology, with expansion anticipated in some of these areas. We have a well-established Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship program.
Expected rank is Assistant Professor or higher; however, rank and tenure status is dependent on candidate’s qualifications.
Needed Qualifications:
- Board certification in Psychiatry; Board eligibility in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
- Maryland licensure
